Kensington Stables Pony Club is a program for young equine enthusiasts from 6 to 11 years old. The sessions are Monday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. In this program, the children learn hands-on about caring for the horses and the barn. They are given the opportunity to appreciate and share in the hard work that goes into caring for these gentle giants, and in doing so, develop close bonds with their favorite horses and ponies at Kensington. There is a lesson on horseback riding every day. In addition, children will enjoy horse themed arts & crafts and games.
We provide the safest possible environment in which there are only five children per counselor.
Lunch is not included. Please bring a boxed lunch and water bottle.
No electronic devices for entertainment are allowed.
The hours are from 10 AM to 4 PM Monday to Friday for the summer, 10 AM to 2 PM for the winter and spring sessions. Early drop off and late pickup are available at $15 per hour with advanced notice. There are no special activities during these times.
A sample daily program:
- 10:00-10:45 -grooming and tacking
- 10:45-11:30 - horseback riding lesson
- 11:30-12:15 - games
- 12:15-1:00 - lunch
- 1:00-1:45 - horse management lessons
- 1:45-2:30 - games
- 2:30-4:00 - learning about horses with arts and crafts
You may enroll for one week or multiple weeks.
Register and pay for the Pony Club by February 15 and tuition is $350. Register and pay by March 15 and tuition is $375. After March 15, tuition is $400 per week.
There is a daily rate of $85 per day. However, we cannot guarantee reservations by the day. Priority will be given to children enrolled weekly.
Riders should wear long pants and closed toes footwear with low heels. Clothing should be comfortable, and it should be okay to get it dirty. For children enrolled in the summer program, a change of clothing or clothes for getting wet may be appropriate.
Helmets are required. You may borrow ours or purchase your own helmet. A popular model is the Equi Lite. International Equi Lite helmets are available for $30 each in blue, green, black, white, gold, silver and purple. Fashion colors are available for $35 each in Blue mist, Sunset Pink, Lavender and Citron. Sizes are small 6 1/2- 6 3/4, medium 6 7/8- 7 1/8 and large 7 1/4- 7/2.
We can order any helmet made by International and safety vest made by Intec. Please allow four weeks notice.
